Ski racing has always been an important part of AAC Falls Creek.
Club Race
The annual club race is held every August, open to all members and their families & guests. It caters for all ages with trophies for children, men, women and over 50s.
The children race for the Sam Barker Memorial trophy in memory of the members' child who tragically died in childhood.
Success in the club race is an important factor in selection for the interclub race.
AAC Interclub Race
Rivalry between the AAC clubs is fierce. Held annually, the intercub race is for The Rosyln Wesche Memorial Cup. It is named to honour and remember, Roslyn, who at 18 was the only person killed at Kunama Huette ski lodge when the avalanche hit on Mount Kosciusko in 1956. AAC Falls Creek is very well represented in the trophy inscriptions.
Falls Creek Race Club
Many children of members are alumni of the race club. The discipline of race training provides them with unrivalled skills for a lifetime of skiing. A number have gone on to become ski instructors.
